The $210 BougeRV turns out to be a great value.  It’s priced at the lower end of the bunch but has more features than some of the higher end models with features like a remote screen and Bluetooth connection.  It has decent efficiency, selectable AC voltage, and decent idle loss at 7W. Included AC hardwire connections.

This is a quality inverter with a good reputation. It has a really nice built in screen.  It has decent efficiency and boasts the best standard idle loss at 5W.  It was a trooper, delivering full power even in overload conditions.  It was also the only transfor-merless inverter with a built in pre-charge circuit.  Included AC hardwire connections. My only complaint with this unit was the small lugs for the battery cables.

This is the most popular inverter on Amazon.  It was basically tied for the best efficiency in my testing and it has a decent idle loss at 10W.  It has the quietest fans, something that’s important to me.  It meets all the rated specs and quickly shuts down if you exceed them. Included AC hardwire connection.

But this is an industrial level unit with a built in transformer.  And it has the significant additional capability of being used as a UPS and to charge batteries eliminating the need to buy a separate battery charger.  It will give you much more resistance to overloads especially with induction loads.  If you plan to run power tools you will want to consider one of the inverters with a transformer.  The transformer does cost you some on the efficiency end. The standard idle loss is high, but if you have an intermittent load you can use standby mode which has an impressive 2W stand by idle loss. It comes with one of the nicest screens and a good reputation for reliability.  You probably wont’ be disappointed with this unit’s performance.

The Victron is the gold standard for reliability.  The MultiPlus-II has better idle efficiency at about 10W. This unit is designed to be a permanent install, It’s more powerful than the rest since it is rated to deliver a continuous 2,400W.  It was the only one that could run the large compressor and dust collector.  Even with it’s transformer, it had decent efficiency. It can be combined  with additional units to deliver more power or split phase output.  With an optional screen you can manage more features and capability than we can cover in this video.  That being said if you are considering this level of equipment I would recommend a 48V system unless you absolutely have to go with 12V.
