Assortment of adhesive lined shrink tubing in red, blue, and yellow, with butt, fork, hook, ring, and quick disconnects. Great to have on hand for low voltage wiring.
uxcell Voltage Converter Regulator DC/DC DC 48V to DC 13.8V 30A 414W
If I were doing this project again, this is the unit I would use. It puts out 13.8V which is a better match for most 12V devices. This is a great solution for running 12V devices on your 48V system. It can take an input from 38V to 60V. It is rated for a 30A 414W output.
Kohree DC/DC Converter Regulator Reducer 48V Step Down to DC 12V 20A 240W
This is a great solution for running 12V devices on your 48V system. It can take an input from 30V to 60V. It is rated for 20A 240W. Us this one if you need exactly 12V.
Surge Protection Arrester Device, 2P DC Photovoltaic Lighting Protector
Budget surge protection. If you can't afford the high-end military grade lightening and EMP protection devices, I suggest you at least protect your inverter inputs by adding one of these to each string.
Military Grade Lightening and EMP Protection for Charge Controller
EEMP Shield – Dual 300-420 Volt DC Solar / Wind (Dual-DC-300-420-W) This unit can protect one or two PV inputs. There are other voltage ranges available if you have a higher or lower voltage string.
Military Grade Lightening and EMP Protection for Batteries
EEMP Shield – 48 Volt DC (DC-48V-W) Use this device to protect your 48V Lithium battery bank. There are other voltage ranges available if you have a 12V or 24V system.
Military Grade Lightening and EMP Protection for Whole Home Protection
EMP Shield – Home EMP & Lightning Protection + CME Defense (SP-120-240-RL / Concealed Model) This unit connects to your breaker panel and provides protection for every device in the home that is plugged in. It comes with a $25,000 insurance policy against lightening damage. This unit has a remote display so the device can be hidden. The non/remote version is slightly cheaper.
MidNite Solar Surge Protection Device MNSPD-300-AC
Use this model for protecting your home and all devices connected to your homes electrical system. While cheaper than EMP Shield, I have no reason to believe it won't work just as well. LANGIR DC Circuit Breaker 2 Poles 1-63A 500V for Solar Energy System and Other DC System DIN Rail Installation (20A)
I like this breaker the best for PV connections. It doesn't have polarity, the screws are nicely recessed, and it has a clear indicator for off/on. The only negative is it only goes up to 500V
CHTAIXI DC Circuit Breaker, 2 Pole 1000V 20 Amp Isolator for Solar PV System DIN Rail
I use this breaker for PV strings that exceed 500V. The screws are not very well recessed, you have to pay attention to polarity, and there is no on/off indicator window.
63A to 125 A DC Circuit Breaker 12-240V 2P (20A 32A 40A 63A 100A Optional) Solar Disconnect switches DIN Rail Mount DC MCB use for 12V 24V 48V 120V Battery
For smaller battery banks or individual batteries without built in breakers choose the size you need.
Managing your large battery bank through a dedicated DC breaker gives you more control. This is a ASI NDB1-125C100-2 100 Amp DIN rail circuit breaker, 2 pole, it is rated at 240 Vac, 60 Vdc (This configuration has 2 paired together for 200 amps total).
These are high quality tinned copper cables. UV stability is great. One end is premade so you don't need any tools. They also come with additional MC4 Connectors if you need a connector at both ends.
Dinkle DIN Rail Block Kit DK10N Red/Black with Jumpers Ground Terminal Blocks, 6-20 AWG, 60 Amp, 600 Volt
International Connector created this package by my request to provide everything you need for a clean solar combiner box with breakers and surge protectors. I like the DK10N size to give some margin for most installs.
Dinkle Assembly Kit DK10N Red/Black 10 Gang with Jumpers DIN Rail Terminal Blocks, 6-20 AWG, 60 Amp, 600 Volt
This is my favorite size, it's good for up to 6AWG wire. Use this one if you don't need ground blocks and just want to pass through or combine strings. Great Connectors for junction boxes and combiner boxes. Multiple sizes available.

I have several friends that have used Sinclair's ground mount system. I have no affiliation with them, but they have a great product, it is very clean and the tilt angle can be adjusted. It can be installed DIY, but it is more difficult because it requires deep concrete supports if you don't have the equipment to pound the posts in.
